Did some plein air painting at the University Farm today. The painting was of hay bales but since the weather was so nice I continued sketching after the light had changed.
I've painted this barn from a different angle before.

Journal - Tomatoes
Some of the fruits of my tomato harvest. The Amish Paste tomatoes were delicious, but so prone to cracking that this guy decayed before I got a chance to eat it. Next time I guess I have to ink and eat on the same day.
The Viva Italias turned out great this year. I made a lot of bruschetta.

Journal - Sugarbowl
Went to breakfast with my husband and in-laws at the Sugarbowl. It's tough to sketch people that move around.

Life Drawing
We were listening to showtunes during the last half of the session, and sometime in the middle of this longer pose the song "Let Me Entertain You" came on. Both the model and I started grinning at the situation. The song is one of the main themes running through the musical "Gypsy", which is based on the life of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous burlesque star.

Life Drawing
I went to life drawing back in August but I never got around to photographing and posting my efforts. I've been studying other people's figure drawings and I realized that what I liked about them was the stylization. So this time around I tried to stylize just a bit more, to pay a little more attention to construction, and also to draw a bit larger than I usually do.
I was fairly happy with this session. Of course, I really like this model because he does slightly more dramatic poses. The young guys are often too self-conscious and just don't know how to ham it up a bit.

Journal - Sheep Painting
You know it's a slow day when you can't think of anything to put into your journal other than the painting you were working on. :P

Journal - Treacle Toffee
We went to the candy shop to get gifts for my mother-in-law's birthday. She liked our choices! Also, we stocked up on toffee while we were there.

Cows
From last Friday. I was biking home after failing to get my prescription and was surprised by cows.
I have never seen cows in that field before. Occasionally there are sheep. I had to stop and sketch them because they were so close to the fence.

Art in the Plaza
The second week I did Art in the Plaza. The weather was lovely, if a little hot, but it was pretty dead and I was falling asleep due to partying the day before and a crappy sleep the night of.

Week of Welcome
Had to go in to campus to get my prescription renewed. It was a fail -- I couldn't get in to see a doctor without my grad student in tow. Crapulent.
The University Week of Welcome festivities were going, so I sat and sketched the beer gardens for a bit. At least the trip wasn't a total waste.

Sketch Journal
I was telling someone or other on dA about keeping a sketch journal and the Everyday Matters group when I realized that I haven't kept a sketch journal in ages and that I had really enjoyed it when I did. As I haven't been sketching nearly enough lately I decided to get a cheap sketchbook somewhere and start again.
Apparently I can't spell "zucchini". However, Uncle Chen makes a good srirarcha.

Fish Battle
I signed up to participate in an art fair they're just starting up in one of the surrounding communities. The first Sunday I was there it was Labour Day Long Weekend, and it was pouring rain. There was only one other artist there and because everything else in the building was closed, nobody showed up.
I got a lot of sketching done!
