Life Drawing 35

I think I felt better about this session than some of the others. And I think I'm slowly starting to see the results of regular figure drawing practice in my other drawings. It's been five sessions so far this year (missed one because the model didn't show). I can probably put in another 16 before the year is done. I wonder if I'll show any clear sign of progress by December?

In other news this marked the end of my first giant newsprint pad. I think I'll rip out and re-scan some of the better poses and recycle the rest.

Industrial Building WIP

Got out to do some painting this afternoon. Spent a couple hours out in the light of the evil daystar.

I thought the industrial park would be dead quiet on a Sunday, but apparently I picked the ONE parking lot in the area where people were actually doing stuff. So the whole time I was there cars were arriving in the parking lot about 10 minutes apart, some guy's truck had a bunch of heavy metal music going and people were going "fuck!" in the background.

Neil figures there was an impromptu metal concert in the making.

So far I rather like how the tree is coming out. I'm trying to use more neutral colours to have it look less cartoony.

Even More Gestures

I was going to do 50 of these but I went to figure drawing on Wednesday (and a figure actually showed) so I think I'm done for now.

Bunny Sketches

Drawing hares in action ain't easy.

I'm glad I got the chance to do at least some gesture sketches of its awkward washing process.

French Breakfast Radishes

I grew this bunch of radishes last summer.

I think this pic turned out terrifically well, although pencil crayons hardly ever scan well. :P

My first try at oil painting:

I'm using no solvents because I have to paint indoors.

Ink Sketch

Done from life directly in ink, using a PITT pen and technical pen for the hatching. I'm trying to improve the quality of my lines.

Another little pencil crayon piece.

Easter Bunny

Well... not really. I sketched this down & out hare for a complaint thread on CA. Never got around to posting it.

General Bunissimus

Had a sudden hankering to do some pencil crayon art.

I used a reference photo I took in my backyard. I dubbed him General Bunissimus because he is a hare with gravitas.

The Joust - Rough

This has been in my head for a while. Two knights riding marshmallow steeds, facing off in the clouds.
